If my scanner starts up for 5 seconds, then stops, I'll get the message above. A few times I'll get "cannot connect with Twain". Problem is that this is total random--It's worked fine for 3 years, on 2000pro. I'ts become sporatic on XP, but still, I cannot find any clues as to why it will work fine on different programs for hours, then will make a noise for 5 seconds and give me the messages it does. I've reinstalled many times. When working, sometimes it's just the little toolbox, other times it's the entire screen with all the bells and whistles. I've read and read. Any directions to push me in as I read forum after forum? ThanksRon Cooper
